Glossary
- 80 PLUS Rating
- A certification that grades how efficiently a power supply converts wall AC into usable DC, with tiers from Bronze up to Titanium.
- GPU
- Graphics Processing Unit - the chip on your video card, and one of the two main options for mining Malairte.
- Memory Junction Temperature
- The internal temperature reading of a GPU's memory chips, distinct from the core temperature shown on most monitoring overlays.
- PCIe
- The high-speed interface standard that connects a graphics card to the motherboard, defined by both physical slot size and the number of electrical lanes.
- PCIe Riser
- A flexible cable or adapter that physically extends a PCIe slot so a GPU can sit somewhere other than directly on the motherboard.
- Power Limit
- A configurable cap on how many watts a GPU is allowed to draw, used to trade a small amount of hashrate for significant power savings.
- TDP
- Thermal Design Power, the amount of heat in watts a CPU or GPU is expected to produce under sustained load, used to size cooling and estimate power draw.
- VRAM
- The dedicated high-speed memory built onto a graphics card, used to hold the data the GPU works on during mining and gaming.
- Wattage Headroom
- The gap between a power supply's rated capacity and the actual sustained draw of the system, kept large enough for cool, efficient, reliable operation.
