Memory Junction Temperature
The internal temperature reading of a GPU's memory chips, distinct from the core temperature shown on most monitoring overlays.
Memory junction temperature, sometimes shortened to memjunc or VRAM Tjunction, is the internal temperature of a GPU's memory modules. It is reported separately from GPU core temperature and is often much higher under mining loads. RTX 30-series cards with GDDR6X memory are particularly known for high memory junction readings, with anything over 100C indicating worn thermal pads or insufficient cooling. When inspecting a used GPU intended for mining, memory junction temperature is one of the most useful diagnostic numbers to ask the seller for. A card that ran at 105C memory junction for two years probably needs a thermal pad replacement before you trust it.
