The readings that matter most

GPU core and memory temperatures

Watch both, because they can diverge sharply. A reasonable core temperature paired with a soaring memory junction temperature is the classic signature of worn thermal pads on a used card, and it is invisible if you only watch the core.

CPU temperature under load

A steady, predictable CPU temperature is a sign of healthy cooling. A creeping rise over weeks suggests dust buildup or drying thermal paste, both easy to fix before they cause throttling.

Fan speeds

A fan that spins slower than it should, or rattles, is a fan on its way out. Catching it early means swapping a cheap part on your schedule rather than discovering it seized during a heatwave.

Drive health and SMART data

For a node, the SSD is doing constant work. SMART attributes such as wear level and reallocated sectors warn you long before a drive fails, giving time to back up and replace it calmly.
